Biography: Dezhong Yao is currently an associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He is a member of the National Engineering Research Center for Big Data Technology and System , Services Computing Technology and System Lab, Cluster and Grid Computing Lab (CGCL) at HUST. He obtained his BS and Ph.D. in computer science from HUST in 2006 and 2016 respectively. Before joining HUST in 2019, He was a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University. From 2010 to 2012, He was a visiting student at Carnegie Mellon University.

My research interests include distributed machine learning, efficient foundation model systems and intelligent software for edge and industrial environments. Specific topics include:

  • Foundation Model Compression and Quantization
  • Operator Optimization for Large Models
  • Lightweight Edge Containers
  • Distributed Machine Learning

Open Positions: I am recruiting Ph.D. and M.S. students in efficient foundation model systems, operator optimization, edge AI, and intelligent CAD systems. If you are interested please drop me an email.
